In 2022 the venture was born to make a second-hand shopping in Switzerland just as smooth and secure as shopping new, whilst sustainable. Out of this came Marko - a circular marketplace for a younger audience set to make it a whole lot easier to sell pre-loved items and to find that unique gem. I joined to conceive the MVP & brand.

Finding the Mark
Early on it became clear that the brand should inheret a bit of 'restrictive playfulness' whilst solidifying it as a serious challenger and improvement to currently available platforms.

Solution
Fashion, Electronics & Home Design are the intial 3 main categories, encompassing most lifestyle-oriented products
Flow - Selling
Kicking off the product design I started with one of the more essential flows - structuring how a fresh user would navigate the platform (extract)
Visual
The landing view acts as an inspirational feed - allowing the user to scroll through newly listed products, saved searches & highlighted categories

Navigating across the different product categories & filters on desktop
Feature - Favorites
The 'Favorites' tab becomes your personal feed with time, based on liked items and followed sellers. The more interactions on the platform, the more shopping inspiration & improved suggestions.

UI Library
All building blocks originate from a Figma library that we set up, covering each component's behavior and usage scenario - minimizing unclarity during development.
Communications
In order to build a solid foundation for marketing and system emails I created a set of modular templates with relevant properties included that can easily be toggled. This allows for the Marketing team to choose which content blocks to include, ensures consistency across send-outs and prevents the design from breaking.
The product utilises bursts of celebrationary artwork as the user makes positive progress on the platform, reinforcing action success and ties into the more playful aspect of the brand.
